Where Memory Meets Myth: Poonam Bhatnagar’s ‘Odyssey’ Comes to Bikaner House
Curated by Uma Nair, the Bikaner House exhibition brings together landscapes, peacocks, Buddha and Indian mythology through Bhatnagar’s distinctive ‘webcast technique’.
Poonam Bhatnagar’s Odyssey at Bikaner House in September is an exhibition that dives deep into her journeys from her childhood to travels across continents to her relationships with her own love for mythos and human subjects as well as landscapes that define her artistic evolution. Prakriti,Mayura,Enlightened One and Mythos are the thematic subjects that she dwells on and creates her own conversations around time and tide.

Curator Uma Nair says: “ Broken into distinct and definitive themes, the canvases at LTC will begin with panoramic collage that integrates landscapes in abstract moods well as relief features, as well as a peacock that sets the tone for nature’s rhythms along with imagery that spans Buddha and Indian mythos subjects. Intrinsically intriguing is her webcast technique she created after studying a spider’s web during early days in 2016. ”Prakriti is a collection, of her lone landscapes that mirror nature’s finest moods, Mayura runs through vignettes of peacocks amidst architectural symbolism of Rajasthan havelis, while Enlightened One zooms in on Lord Buddha through autumnal and soft hued tropical imagery.

The last largest room at LTC will be adorned by characters from Indian mythology. From the courageous Hanuman to the gods and goddesses we will have Saraswati, Lord Shiva, Lord Ram Ganesha ,and Laxmi. Meerabai opens the exhibition as a landscape of bhakti and the beauty of songs and stories of yore. Each work has its own ethos filled essence and celebrates the divine spirit.Equally enticing and enchanting is her Meerabai that will open the show at the entrance. Her technique of painting and creating detailed embellishments in landscape elements is born of her training in textiles and her experience of studying a spider’s web.She calls this the webcast technique. It is the maze of an infinity netting that forms the foundation of her works.

Khushii Art is honoured to present Odyssey, an exhibition that celebrates Poonam Bhatnagar’s remarkable journey as an artist and her relationship with beauty and storytelling. At a time when the world can feel increasingly fragmented, her works remind us of the things that connect us: nature, memory and the search for peace. We hope Odyssey becomes not only a celebration of Poonam’s art, but also a space for art lovers to reflect and reconnect with the beauty of our shared cultural imagination.
The show sponsored by Khushi Art will be a delight for the senses.
